My beloved father and best friend. Literally the coolest guy you could ever know. He gave Patti McGee and many others their start in the skateboarding world.
Thanks for posting this. Coolest father ever. My father (a carpenter also named George) helped us make skateboards Miami with Chicago clay wheels from roller skates. But he didn’t make a skateboard company.
Later though, I was fortunate to be able to ride the Hollywood Ramp in 1977, which was a very first ramp of its kind in the world, and started the half pipe style we know today. You can see the Hollywood Ramp as there is a Facebook page for it.
RIP George Cooley, one of the Fathers of Skateboarding.
