Sad to hear about Joe Fong .. one of San Francisco’s skateboarding older generation from the 1970’s who drove the younger cats all over to the raddest skate spots … I met most of the Northern Contingent back then skating Burlingame and Winchester the Pipeline of Nor Cal at the time … @independenttrucks was another source from SF and later along with @thrashermag where all the raddest skaters of the time would meet and hang skate eat food at El Cumbre after the session … Joe was there in the mix … skateboarding and cart racing and at the mag … he had some of the first pool pics back then at Jungle Bowl .. damn it is a shame .. gone way too soon … sending love and hugs to your family and friends. See ya on the other side Joe … say hi to Fausto and my dad for me ..

I’m gonna miss this solid human being. I’ve been reading all the kind comments friends have posted over the past few days. Many people are saying the same things. This was the guy who connected everyone together. He was immensely proud of his family and was a positive spirit at countless Bay Area skate events. He made the time! And he shared everything – stories, swag, support, and stoke. It was his to give – and yours to have.
Joe would often check in to say hello, share some photos, talk motorsports, or for an invite to an event. “Come on out bro!” I know I’m not the only one too. How did he find the time? His energy for friendships, BBQs, family, and pool coping was boundless. It was all genuine and from the heart. The OG SF King – Joe Fong. Bro shakes and shakas

Joe Fong, it’s hard to describe someone that’s meant so much to who you actually are as a person. Joe’s infectious energy permeated so many people’s lives and helped shape their futures. His love of skateboarding was the truest form of love there ever was, he literally spread the stoke far and wide. I was very fortunate to be the benefactor of his stoke from a very young age. Godspeed Joe Fong.
