We lost another great Surfer / Skateboard Legend, Mr. Murray Estes from San Marcos California. He’s been living in Hawaii for many years now. I grew up with him and another great friend Rick Braning. Everyone knew the three of us were very close growing up, (like brothers)… The three of us always hit up my Mom and Dads Restaurant all the time after a long surf session. I don’t think there was a surf or skate spot Murray and I did not hit many times over. Our favorite surf spot was Swamis in Encinitas and of course, we both skated the Kona Bowl like it was our own back yard… Everyone knew Murray and I because of the motorcycle helmets we used to wear when we skated vertical.. His was blue mine was red… Wow, so many memories, parties, early morning surf sessions and we truly lived the life of “surfers first” over everything else. He will be missed and not forgotten… Below is an old photo of Murray, my Sister Carolyn, Rick and myself at my parents home in San Marcos. Look at Murrays classic smile… LOL… I never thought I’d be saying this about Murray but may he Rest In Peace.. This one was very hard for me as now both Rick and Murray are together with God, surfing insane waves together.
