I was lucky enough to have Richard as a father in-law. He always supported me, my friends and skateboarding from day one. He really helped the skate scene in Reno thrive during the 80’s and beyond. Richard built awesome ramps and hosted many contests (Reno State Fair, NSA Reno Regional Contest) He worked with and became good friends with Frank Hawk, Sonja Catalano and many others. He befriended Mark Gonzales. Mark would stay weeks at a time at Richard and Betty’s home. It was Mark’s getaway and Richard always had a ramp for all of us to skate. Over the years Richard continued to support less fortunate skaters in the area by always supplying them with boards to ride. Richard was a good man and is missed by all who knew him. RIP
