Skateboarder, Surfer, and Master-Ramp-Builder Rob-O Monroe sadly passed away in November of 2000. Rob-O began skating in the 70s (He rode for Powerflex) and built ramps for almost as long. Through the 80s, he lived in Huntington Beach and befriended a world of skaters in and beyond his Southern California home. Ramps such as the Scab Ramp, Hell-Bowl, Watashes, Neil’s (Yes, Neil Blenders Ramps), Gonz’s and many more were home to so much ripping throughout the 80’s and beyond. Rob-O even built the infamous 1986 OP Surf “Riot” Ramp. He married his wife Lisa in 1996 and has a daughter, Zoey. Over the next few years he developed his business, Rob-O Ramps, employing his friends and building parks and demo ramps the world over. Some of his last projects included the Vans Skateparks, including the rebuilt street course at the Block in Orange, California.
Rob-O skated with and was friends to many people in the skateboard world. His impact on the skate scene in Orange County is immeasurable and not forgotten. Things just wouldn’t have been the same with-out him. He literally built his life around skateboarding and is missed greatly.
