Find Wendy on Social Media
The younger sister of Skateboarding Hall of Fame 2012 inductee Danny Bearer, Wendy Bearer Bull was the only female member of Larry Stevenson’s original Makaha Skateboard Team during the 1960s boom of “sidewalk surfing.” Later, Wendy was also a member of the original Hobie Skateboards and Surf team. Founded in Larry’s garage, which also housed Surf Guide magazine, Makaha would release the first professionally endorsed skateboards in 1963 with Wendy and Danny both part of the elite sponsored team. Since her days with Hobie and Makaha, Wendy has been happily married for 40 years, and in addition to still surfing and skating in her spare time, she enjoys bicycling, backpacking, rope climbing, skiing, softball, camping, snowshoeing, fishing, and photography. She is currently a schoolteacher and has spent the past 20 years living in rural eastern Oregon, raising her two daughters and recently touring the countryside on a Harley-Davidson Ultra Limited touring bike.
