Steve Van Doren is the son of Vans co-founder Paul Van Doren. Paul, along with his brother, James, and partners Gordon Lee and Serge D’Elia, gave birth to the Van Doren Rubber Company in Anaheim. California on March 16, 1966. Having begun working for the family business at the ripe age of 10, Steve is currently the vice president of events and promotions and Vans’ unofficial ambassador of fun. Steve has spent the better part of the past four decades building skateparks worldwide, and manning the barbecue at events he organized including Bondi Bowl-a-Rama, Downtown Showdown, Vans Pool Party, Vans Warped Tour and hundreds more, making Vans the most cherished shoe brand across skateboarding. Nearly 50 years since his father sold the first pair of Vans in Anaheim, Steve Van Doren continues to embody the dedication, passion, and DIY drive that originally lifted the brand to prominence. And the huge success of the company’s first-ever, feature-length video, Propeller, assures us that the Van Doren legacy will live on for generations to come.
