Tina Trefethen
Freestyle skateboarding is only one of Tina Trefethen’s varied interests. Active in skateboarding as an editor and as art director of Skateboard Publications, she put together the Handbook of Freestyle Tricks (for which she also developed a whole section on free-exercise maneuvers) and works with various other companies on promoting the sport. In 1975 Tina won the World Hang Gliding Championship in California (her first love in the sports field)—but tennis, gymnastics, surfing, and flying are also major interests. To judge by her performance in the Masters, however, her skate- boarding doesn’t suffer much-her innovative incorporation of freestyle dance and gymnastic tricks with the more predictable freestyle moves made for quite an impressive and graceful routine.
